How Haier Portable Air Conditioners Work?

portable air conditioner may be a wise investment, especially since the unit does not require permanent installation to a structure. Although a window is necessary for the venting process, a portable air conditioner is a good choice for an apartment, office, or dwelling where a central air unit or window or wall air conditioner is impractical. Since the portable unit is on wheels, it can be moved from room to room. Portable units also offer heating and dehumidifying functions. Here's how a portable air conditioner works.

How Portable Air Conditioners Work
A portable unit has two sections within a box frame. One side holds cold air; the other side houses the hot side of the air conditioner. A flexible exhaust hose gets rid of the heat. Typically, the hose is positioned in a window to oust the exhaust. The portable AC unit draws in the surrounding air and removes the water. The water cools the unit, producing cost-effective cooling.

Condensation can be dealt with in a couple different ways, depending on the style of portable air conditioner. Some units contain either a bucket or tray inside which holds the water. This must be emptied on a regular basis. Other systems remove the evaporated water through the exhaust system.

A portable unit does not need to be permanently affixed to a residence or office building. Still, before moving the unit from room to room, a window will need to be prepared for the exhaust house. The hose attaches to the back of the unit and the other end needs to be secured to the window. A window adapter kit is standard with portable unit.

Portable air conditioners work as a dehumidifier. Additionally, the machine can be used as a fan. Newer models include a built-in heater system, making it a popular choice for an air conditioning unit.

It's in the BTUs

Before purchasing a portable unit, measure the intended room and calculate the square footage. A square or rectangular room is based on multiplying length by width. If heat-producing appliances are in the room, a larger unit may be necessary.

A 300 square foot room requires approximately 8,000 BTUs; a room measuring between 700 and 1,000 square feet needs around 18,000 BTUs. Consult the manufacturer's instructions and information to determine the proper size.

A portable air conditioner may be the best choice for a small office area or one room at home or in an apartment. Determine the correct size prior to purchase and use the unit to cool and dehumidify your home.
